Mistborn: Secret History takes place during the events of the original trilogy and shows events happening off-screen from the original books. It explains some of what was behind the onscreen events and gives more context to what happened. The extra detail was interesting, but in some ways I felt like it took away from parts of the original books. I also didn’t find the book very enjoyable to read as a standalone story because it jumps so much between events in books I read years ago. Overall, it’s interesting information to understand for connecting the Mistborn stories, but wasn’t one of Sanderson’s better novellas.
